I have a feeling that in many New England workplaces today supervisors will be finding those oh-so-dramatic, and not-very-believable, voicemails from employees that have come down with a devastating 24-hour bug. For some reason it is especially prevalent this time of year. Symptoms often include a bit of a goggle tan, an ear-to-ear smile, a sore body and a propensity to constantly view tuckerman.org. This sickness seems to be highly contagious as one or two coworkers were likely out of work yesterday as well. The reason for the rapid onset is easily identifiable…the riding and skiing conditions on Mt Washington are absolutely amazing. Yesterday was a blue ribbon day with a summit high of 30F (-1C), sunny skies and an average wind speed of only 11mph (18kph). If you were healthy and at work you were probably in the wrong place. Don’t worry though because there’s still time to contract this debilitating virus. Today’s forecast looks to bring more of the same type of weather as yesterday with the only difference being wind speeds that may push a tad higher. They’ll be worth watching but with a forecasted top speed of 25mph (40kph) their adverse effect on snow softness should be marginal. In other words the turns should be well worth the hike and soft in most locations once the sun has worked its magic. If you’re wise you’ll do like my friend Jay and bring the whole office so that the boss doesn’t get jealous when he catches you looking through photos with your coworkers tomorrow.

Et nous qui sommes allés bosser aujourd'hui...
