From Chicago to the Badlands

Malgré le mois d’août et les larges autoroutes, on a quand même mis un peu de temps à sortir de Chicago mercredi matin (19 aout)… On a ensuite eu de la pluie diluvienne semble-t-il bien caractéristique des grandes plaines pour aller du Wisconsin au Dakota du Sud en passant par le Minnesota, ce qui ajoutait un petit coté dramatique au paysage ;-)
On a beau dire que les plaines c’est plat, mais on ne s’est pas ennuyé et on a trouvé ça plus intéressant que la forêt de Nouvelle-Angleterre ! Au moins on peut voir au loin :-)

Arrivée le soir à la porte des Badlands, premier National Park de notre voyage et première fois aussi où on va mettre le bonnet !

Although it is August and the highways are pretty large, it still took us time to leave Chicago on Wednesday morning (August 19)… we then had some crazy rain, apparently really common for the Great Plains to go from Wisconsin to South Dakota via Minnesota, therefore adding something to the scenery ;-)
Even if it is said that the Plaines are flat, we were not annoyed and we found it more interesting than the New England forest! At least you can see far away :-)

We arrived at night next to the Badlands, our first National Park of the trip and also first time we have to put our beanie on!
