Hiking around Mount Baker, WA

Après avoir roulé et repassé la frontière mardi (1er septembre) –on est maintenant officiellement touristes aux USA- on arrive le soir au pied du Mont Baker (l’endroit qui détient le record de neige mesuré, 30 mètres, en un hiver !) avec l’espoir de faire l’ascension de ce volcan les jours suivants. Peine perdue, la route qui mène au départ de la course est fermée pour travaux d’une part, et d’autre part la météo annonce de la pluie pour les jours suivants…
On se contentera donc d’approcher le sommet par un autre coté le lendemain, sans en être bien loin à vol d’oiseau, mais avec un glacier qui ne fait par rigoler on se contentera du paysage vu d’en bas…

After driving and going back to the US on Tuesday (September 1) –we are now officially tourists in the US- we arrive in the evening near Mount Baker (the place where there is the most snowfall recorded, 30 meters, in one winter!), hopefully to climb this volcano the next days. Bad luck, the road to go to the base of the climb is closed because of roadwork and the weather is forecasted to be rainy for the next days…
Therefore, we get closer to the summit from another side the next day, without being far away from it in distance but with a glacier in the middle, you don’t want to step on and you enjoy the view from there…
